From the 13th to the 17th of October 2025, MOBILIsE hosted the 3rd edition of the MOBILIsE “Advanced Course in Molecular Bioengineering” at the i3S, focusing this year on “Biomolecular Interactions Modelling“.
It was an intense and exciting week of lectures and hands-on practical sessions, where participants explored the fundamentals of biophysical techniques for studying molecular interactions – learning both in silico and experimental methods to analyse 3D structures, self-assembly, and solubility of peptides and proteins, – relevant for a range of biomedical applications, such as drug discovery, biosensing, functional biomaterials design and tissue engineering, among others. The course concluded with a series of group presentations on in silico prediction of peptide lipophilicity and aggregation, correlating them with experimental RP-HPLC, Circular Dichroism, and TEM data from the practical sessions.
This edition brought together international lecturers (n=8) and attendees (n=18) from various countries and nationalities – Brazil, Costa Rica, Croatia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Russia, and Spain, for a journey of learning and networking.
Overall, the course was highly appreciated, with all participants rating its overall quality as either “excellent” (64.3%) or “very good” (35.7%), along with similar evaluations for the lecturers and lectures. For the majority of participants (93%), the course successfully met their expectations. Here, we leave some of their comments:
“The course was stimulating, covering interesting topics in the field of peptides. Furthermore, it provided a diverse and dynamic learning environment. The speakers and demonstrators were of high quality, as were the techniques employed.”
“The course was really well organized, with perfect timing and well planned breaks. The lectures were very clear and easy to follow and it was very useful; the several techniques were explained in a comprehensive way. All the organizers were very kind and always available to help us.”
“The course completely met my expectations. The covered topics were broad but perfectly complement each other. I enjoyed every lecture and practical sessions and learned much new for me. The overall event organization is at a very high level as always.”
