About the Project

MOBILIsE aims to advance the Molecular Bioengineering research at INEB/i3S, in order to maximise the high potential for research excellence at the institute. An outstanding researcher in this field was recruited as the ERA Chair Holder, who is establishing a new group at the institute with a research direction focussed on molecular targeted diagnosis and therapies applied to the main diseases studied at INEB/i3S (cancer, infection, neurodegenerative diseases, and tissue repair/regeneration).

In addition to promoting the excellent research in Molecular Bioengineering, MOBILIsE will act on three other fronts that, together, will contribute to establish INEB/i3S as a Centre of Excellence in Molecular Bioengineering Research.

A great focus of MOBILIsE and of the ERA Chair Holder will be the training of new generations of Molecular Bioengineers.

MOBILIsE will achieve this through:

On-the-job training

On-the-job training of MSc and PhD students and Postdoctoral fellows in the most recent and cutting-edge technologies in the field.

Advanced courses

Organisation of Molecular Bioengineering advanced courses in which leading experts in the field will be invited to deliver tutorials and lectures.

Transferrable skills training

Investment in career development of young researchers by promoting training sessions in transferrable skills, such as grant writing or project management.

Key feature of MOBILIsE

Establishment of collaborative activities with key national and international stakeholders. MOBILIsE will promote a range of activities in order to bring together the necessary critical mass to further the Molecular Bioengineering field not only at INEB/i3S, but also in the Porto region. Thus, a synergic and cohesive research environment among key stakeholders with interest in interactions at the molecular level with impact on human health (academy, research institutes, clinicians and industry) in the Porto region will be fostered – the MOBILIsE Hub.
