The Molecular Biomaterials Group participated once again in the i3S Annual Meeting. The event, held on November 13-14 in Póvoa de Varzim, was an important opportunity to connect, learn, and exchange ideas with colleagues. The ERA-Chair Holder’s members presented the latest progress of the lab’s ongoing projects and engaged in scientific and professional discussions:
Bárbara Matos presented her work on the “Molecular design and characterisation of an enzyme-responsive peptide amphiphile for targeted prostate cancer drug delivery“, featuring a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA)-cleavable peptide amphiphile as a versatile, targeted delivery system.
Sara Silva’s talk “Moving beyond 2D systems to create 3D blood-brain barrier (BBB) models” highlighted the use of 3D printing techniques to fabricate micro-vessels with improved biomimetic properties and structural complexity, enabling high-throughput screening of drug candidates capable of crossing the BBB.
MOBILIsE also took part in a roundtable on gender equality, where the project manager, Mariana Simões, shared insights on current challenges and future directions for advancing gender equality in science.
