The ECLS – Early Career Life Scientists’ Symposia entitled “Biomaterials engineering: working at crossroads of physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology for advancing knowledge of biological systems and developing treatments of diseases” took place on Sep 5th at i3S.
This symposium focused on the crossroads of physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology for advancing knowledge of biological systems and developing disease treatments, bringing together researchers, students, and professionals from across Portugal and Europe to discuss the latest innovations in biomaterials and bioengineering.
From inspiring keynote talks by Dr Patricia Dankers and Dr Rúben Pereira, to insightful oral presentations by participants, dynamic poster sessions, the event also featured a roundtable discussion on “Career paths in science”, a workshop seminar titled “How to Elevate Your Career in Research?”, and various networking opportunities (Check the entire programme)
This successful meeting was organised by the Molecular Biomaterials group members Joana Silva, Karen Galle, Sara Silva, and Vijay Pal – congratulations to them!

The ECLS Symposia, funded by the Biochemical, Physiological, and Pharmacological societies in the UK, are one-day scientific conferences “run by early career life scientists, for early career life scientists”. The organisers are encouraged to promote networking and professional development through social events, careers sessions, scientific talks, and poster sessions.
